An Horse ‘Postcards’ Official Music Video. Directed by Celeste Potter & David Rusanow. From the debut album ‘Rearrange Beds’. Filmed in Melbourne, Vic. http:…
So here it is, my personal favorite indie rock group from Brisbane, Australia! Yea, that’s right it’s ‘An Horse’ and this short but fun and lovely song “Postcards” touched me along with many more of their songs.
Kate Cooper on lead vocals and guitar gives ‘An Horse’ the number one slot for me on this Top 5 list. A 2 piece band that know how and just love to jam out good music. Just give them a search on youtube and give more of their songs a listen. You may agree with me on their number 1 slot. If not, it’s ok! This is my personal list anyways!
I just hope you enjoyed the road trip to Brisbane and maybe you heard some new stuff or you just heard a bunch of oldies. Maybe this road trip was terrible, ugh I hope not! :) Farewell for now, until the next adventure! Live hard and dream big….or was it Live Big and Dream Hard? I dunno….

Oh boy! Here we are at my Number 2 favorite Indie Rock/Pop group from Brisbane Australia! This song could have easily been in my top 5 songs stuck in my head for the month of July. Oh well, here they are early cause they are just dope funky fresh.
A four piece band with a lead guitar in the hands of a talented young lady by the name of Cesira Atiken ‘The Jungle Giants’ come racing into the number 2 slot. Check out the fun official music video for their ‘She’s a Riot' single too. This group of guys and gal are just so fun to listen too, I find myself singing along to just about every song on the EP.
Check em’ out on itunes and youtube or whatever. Just as long as you enjoy it and have a good time listening along.
We’re about to end our road trip and I hope the wait is going to be worth it. These guys were so close to ranking in at number one. It’s just that the next group is so talented it didn’t feel right not naming them number one.
Taken from the album ‘Secret Rituals’, out now. Visit http://itunes.apple.com/au/album/secret-rituals/id433793576 to buy it now
Number 3 is of course non other than the great 3 piece indie rock group ‘The Grates’! With Patience Hodgson pure vocal talent she easily gives this group the number 3 slot. Their live shows are totally worth checking out at least once…or twice in your life. The energy alone from the performance is worth the trip, even if you don’t dig the music so much. Nothing like an awesome live performing group.
Way too many songs to choose from to give an offering sample of their music. So I’m not really totally sure why I chose ‘Like you could have it all’. Maybe it’s her eyes in the video….
Check out 19-20-20 and Trampoline as well. Itunes of course has plenty to buy from this probably low ranked number 3 group!
The top 4 group for Brisbane, Australia takes a slight detour in style of indie pop from the number 5 band. However the Vocals and drumming/percussion of Susie Patten rank ‘I Heart Hiroshima’ easily at the top 4 group. They could have/should have ranked higher, however these are my personal top 5 and this group just, while talented, don’t tickle my fancy enough.
It was hard for me to choose a song to demonstrate their take on indie rock/pop. ’London in Love' may have been a better choice, but 'Here it Comes' hits home to me more.
With no bassist this 3 piece band started up at a house party which lead to eventually releasing their debut EP “A Three Letter Word For Candy”
Check em out at www.ihearthiroshima.com if these guys and gal tickle your fancy.
Official Clip for ‘Josie’ by Go Violets Josie is the Second Single from Go Violets’ forthcoming EP, out late 2013.
This is almost cheating on my part…picking an entire female group for number 5. However,Harriette plays a mean bass for the indie pop group ‘Go Violets’!
This four piece band released their debut album ‘Heart Slice’ on October 4th 2013 and is available on itunes. This is my favorite of the 2 singles from the EP “Josie”. It’s a fun catchy tune by the group that I’d like to believe captures their personalities rather well. Granted I’ve never met any of these ladies…so what do I really know?!
Anyways, Harriette and her bass skills gives ‘Go Violets’ the number 5 slot on this lovely road trip! Go Check em’ out while we venture toward number 4 on the list!

Pack your bags Tumblr folk! We are headed to the lovely capital of Queensland Australia, Brisbane!
Picking out my top 5 favorite indie rock/pop/ect groups with female musicians. To make it even more specific, I did my best to not repeat an instrument said musician specializes in. Vocals do repeat a tad….but hard to avoid that one!
Shout out to ‘Last Dinosaurs’ and their album “In a Million Years” for making me search the Brisbane area for more groups. Sadly, they have no female musician in their group and didn’t make the cut for this top 5! However you can check out the album on youtube in the main link to this post. If you dig it then it’s available on itunes for purchase. Link for that is also above….
So let’s get this show on the road! Ready or not We start the
One of my favorites on the new digs from K. Peep it a listen and more on her soundcloud or itunes or some ish, I dunno whatever.
Ever suck down a bottle of Jim Beam, or any liquor for that matter, wishing it was somebody else instead? Can’t say I’ve ever pondered the possibility but thanks to K. Flay I have now!
"Sucking on a bottle of Jim Beam, wishing it was you" - K.Flay on the track "Wishing it was you" album ‘Life as a Dog’. It’s on itunes or whatever.
It’s a dope Album, but also has a sad feeling over all to the point I want to give K a hug. Well heck I would regardless of course.
Both of these are in my in mini fridge right now. One is for shots the other is for mix drinks. Jack and water all night, no carbs dude!

Here it is, Tune number one for the month of June. The top song getting stuck in my noodle for the whole month.
'Home' by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes on the Album “Up From Below”
A hit single from 2009 and an overall enjoyable and fun song. Usually pauses me in my tracks while at work for a moment to give it a good listening too. Afterwards I find myself humming along to the tune the rest of the day.
Check out their other Albums “Here” and the self titled “Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes”.
